This exciting concert journeys from the vibrant beginnings of New Orleans jazz to today’s modern styles, showcasing the rich history of this iconic art form as part of the nation’s 250th anniversary. It’s an evening of great music that everyone can enjoy! This is the second concert in this year’s series at The Virginia and a Lake Cumberland 250 event.

About Somerset Big Band:
Founded with the mission of keeping America’s most important musical tradition alive, the Somerset Big Band has entertained audiences in the Lake Cumberland area and beyond for over a decade. This 21-person ensemble comprises both professional musicians and community members from central and eastern Kentucky. Since 2016, the SBB has performed at festivals and corporate events and has hosted its own concerts, showcasing traditional big band music and premiering new compositions. They have been featured performers at The Heritage Jazz Festival, The Moonlight Amphitheater, the Singletary Center for the Arts, The Center for Rural Development, and The Virginia Theater, among many others. Above all, the Somerset Big Band strives to continue the legacy and tradition of Big Band Jazz Music for all audiences.
